Mr. Adnan Melky

Bachelor of Science in Agriculture/American University of Beirut, Lebanon/February 1989 & Diploma of Ingenieur Agricole/American University of Beirut, Lebanon/ February 1989. Currently works with UNDP: National Coordinator for the Small Grants Program (Global Environment Facility) in Lebanon. March 1989 – Feb. 2005 World Vision International, Lebanon (WVL) 2003- 2005Program/operations Manager and Deputy Country director. In charge of the development and maintenance of all projects in the Lebanon office focused on emergencies and relief operations, child and youth rights, women empowerment, community mobilization, agriculture, refugee rights, income generation, education and health, sponsorship and infrastructure. 1989 – 2003    Area Development Program Manager & deputy program manager. Leader of the participatory community based integrated development for clusters of villages in the North and the South of Lebanon focusing on child rights and development. 2012 – 2014:Secretary General of the Lebanese Association for Democratic Elections (LADE). 2009 - present-ANDE (Arab Network for Electoral Reform) Founded in 2009 (just before the Arab Uprising) by Human Rights, Democracy and transparency Associations in the Arab Countries. 2010 – present Board member of Diakonia Lebanon. Oct.2004-2006 Founding member and board member of the Association for Lebanese Organic Agriculture (ALOA) an Umbrella Organization for the organic movement in Lebanon.  1998 – 2004 Elected member of Bishmizine Municipality Council . 1996 Founding member of the Lebanese Association for Democratic Elections (LADE) (see above). 1996 Representative of NGO’s at the Lebanese National Committee for the implementation of Convention to Combat Desertification set by the United Nations. 1993 – 2005 Green line Association.

 

OTHER EXPERIENCE:  1993 – Present Lebanese courts: Sworn Agricultural Expert . 1998 – Present Certified Organic Farmer. Have conducted several consultancies for the EU, Government of Lebanon, Terre des Hommes-Lausanne, local and regional NGOs, local authorities, etc… Organized and conducted several national and regional workshops and seminars on democracy, human rights, governance, leadership, civil society empowerment, etc….
