Leader for Democracy visit to Syrian Refugees Camps and managing educational sessions at Kayany Schools

As part of the activities of the Leaders for Democracy (LDF) Arabic program 2015 funded by the Middle East Partnership Initiative (MEPI) and implemented by the Lebanese American University, the participants paid a visit to the school of Kayany Foundation at the Syrian Refugees Camp in Barelias where they dispensed a short segment that is entertaining in nature to students whose ages range between 11 and 15. The segment was a profile of the leaders’ home countries and they interacted with the students and learned about life’s great ordeal in refugee camps.

The Principal of Kayany Schools, Wassim Shahine hosted the leaders in one of the school’s classrooms where he gave a detailed description of the curriculum, subject matters and the great daily challenges that they face at all levels. Then, the Director of Program Management at the foundation, Lamia Almasri organized and assigned the leaders to classrooms based on their nationalities as follows: Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Iraq, Kuwait and Yemen.
