Mr. Shant Chinchinian

 

Shant Mardiros Chinchinian was born in 1979 in Zahle, Lebanon. He is currently a Lebanese Member of Parliament representing the Armenian seat in Zahle district, and he is an active member of the Lebanese Forces Party and the 14th of March movement. He started his education in Saint Joseph school in Zahle. In 1997, he completed his BA in political science at AUST and joined the military service in the Lebanese army as an adjutant . In 1999, Shant graduated from the university of Bradford, UK with an MA in international politics and security studies and has assisted in simulations and mediation exercises within the peace department. In January 2000, he was a peace coordinator in the permanent peace movement in Lebanon. He conducted seminars and workshops in displaced and war torn villages in Mount Lebanon.  In June 2000, he assisted in translating into English and writing articles as a trainee in the Middle East Reporter (Political and economic paper). In October 2000, Shant started his career as an English teacher in Zahle II for Girls Secondary Public School till today. In June 2001, he conducted a course “intro to political science” at AUST. In October 2002, he became an English and science teacher at the Armenian catholic school in Anjar. In 2004, Shant became a member in the association of teachers in Lebanon (ATEL) and a member in the Rotary club of Zahle in Bekaa.
