Hagop Pakradounian
Born in Beirut in 1956, MP Pakradounian received his primary and secondary education in Souren Khanamirian College and graduated in 1975. He acquired a Baccalaureate from the American University of Beirut (1978) and went on to study for a Masters in political science until 1980. He also holds a license in political science from the Lebanese University (1985). In 2001, he pursued postgraduate studies in political sciences at the Lebanese University. He worked in the press from 1975 to 1980 in the newspaper “Aztag” and with other Tashnaq party affiliated newspapers in the Armenian Diaspora. He was the director of Souren Khanamirian College from 1980 to 2000, the director of Levon and Sophia Hagopian Armenian College from 2000 to 2005, a lecturing professor in the Institute of Armenian Studies from 1986 to 2005, a member of the central committee of the Tashnaq party since 1986 and media officer in the Tashnaq party from 1984 to 2002. He has also worked in the committees of the Middle East Council of Churches and the World Council of Churches, and was appointed as a member of the audio-visual media committee in 1994. He was elected an MP for the Armenian Orthodox seat in the North Metn constituency in 2005 and was re-elected in 2009 in an uncontested victory. A member of the foreign affairs committee and economy committee; a member of the environment committee and the committee for youth and sport; a member of the Lebanese-British, Lebanese-Swedish, Lebanese-Iranian, Lebanese-Armenian, Lebanese-Mexican, Irish and German Friendship Committees; and a member of the Lebanese delegation in the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union conference and the Inter-Parliamentary Union. A member of the high committee for the Armenian sect in Lebanon. He took part in a number of conferences on electoral and party law in Jordan, Morocco, London, Beirut, Brussels and Geneva. A member of the parliamentary committee for the electoral law. A member of the national discussion authority. He took part in the Doha conference and signed the agreement on behalf of the Armenian sect.
