Dr. Walid Moubarak
Dr. Walid E. Moubarak is Associate Professor of Political Science, Director of the Institute of Diplomacy and Conflict Transformation, and former Chairperson of the Social Science Division and Education at the Lebanese American University (LAU). Prior to joining LAU he taught at Indiana University (1990-1992) and Kuwait University (1979-1989). Dr. Moubarak has published numerous articles on Lebanon, Kuwait and the rest of the Gulf States and worked as a consultant to the Foreign Ministry of Kuwait on Lebanon between 1981-1988. Dr. Moubarak has served as visiting professor at universities in the United States and Europe and is an organizer of many international conferences and workshops at LAU. Dr. Moubarak is currently a member of the Board of Trustees of the American University of Kuwait and is a member of the Steering Committee of National Dialogue headed by the Lebanese President. Moreover, he serves on the Advisory Board of the International Resource Center at Indiana University. Between 2001-2003, Dr. Moubarak was a member of the Review Committee of the Middle East Research Committee (MERC). He received his Ph.D. in Political Science from Indiana University in 1979. His dissertation title is on,” Kuwait’s Quest for Security: 1961-1973.”
